Pre-finishing Guide

We provide the most thorough installation process for our windows, doors and skylights. We pre-finish your materials to ensure quality and satisfaction. 

To help you better understand our process, here is our guide to pre-finishing:

Our Painting Process

  1. All necessary window/door parts are removed to finish wood properly.
  2. Light sanding and clean-up prep completed before primer is applied.
  3. Primer is applied by hand.
  4. Two coats of Sherwin Williams Low VOC paint is sprayed with an HVLP Sprayer. Proper drying time between coats is always allowed.
  5. Windows/doors are reassembled.
  6. Nail holes are filled after installation with a color-matched putty.
  7. Touch-ups are completed as necessary.
  • All work is completed in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Any additional paint is left with the customer.

Our Staining Process

  1. All necessary window/door parts are removed to finish wood properly.
  2. Light sanding is completed.
  3. Conditioner is applied to wood. 
  4. First coat of Sherwin Williams Low VOC stain is applied by hand.
  5. Another light sanding is completed.
  6. Two coats of a water-based urethane is applied, with proper drying time between coats.
  7. Windows/doors are reassembled.
  8. Nail holes are filled after installation with a color-match putty.
  9. Touch-ups are completed as necessary.
  • All work is completed in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Any additional stain is left with the customer.
