Our Process
Customers Responsibilities
- Check with your village building department to see if a permit is required for the remodeling work that will be completed.
- If a permit is required, please submit a building permit application as soon as possible, as some towns take a few weeks to review & issue building permits. We will submit the necessary licensing documents, bonds & insurance if required by the village.
- Larger remodeling projects such as additions and/or major alterations will require architectural prints and plats of survey to acquire the necessary permits. Although we do not cover the expense of having architectural prints drawn up, we can recommend and meet with you and the architect to discuss your plans. With larger projects and renovations we would take care of the permit process, although the customer would be responsible for the architectural fees, permit fees, and survey fees (if applicable)
- If your work requires a permit, please call the main office number when you have received the permit, and leave the permit number so we have the permit number in our file.
- If your remodeling work requires you to order any fixtures or tile (mainly for bathroom & kitchen remodeling) please order the items as soon as possible, as it may take several weeks for items to come in. We can always recommend vendors for many items required for kitchen and bathroom remodeling.
What To Expect From Us
- You will receive a postcard in the mail within a couple weeks after your signed proposal & deposit have been received, with a installation start date and delivery date for any items being delivered to your home (if applicable).
- We will arrive at your home on the scheduled installation date at 7:30 a.m.
- We generally work from 7:30 a.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m., weather permitting on outdoor remodeling work.
- Drop clothes will be placed on floor in work area.
- Work area will be swept or vacuumed and construction debris will be removed. Please note: Every effort will be made to keep work area clean & debris contained, but with most remodeling work, dust will form and spread outside of the work area. Please expect that we cannot control dust & debris from spreading to other parts of the home.
After Your Work is Complete
- Please complete the “job completion check list” sheet when your job is completed. We value your comments.
- If you have any “punch list” items, damaged or items needing service (including Pella products) please enter those details on the job completion sheets. The completion sheets will be turned into the office, and any issues will be followed-up.
- If your Pella products require parts or service, someone from Pella will call you directly to set up an appointment to have the Pella service department come out to repair, replace or make any adjustments to your windows or doors. There is a 2 year warranty on parts and labor from Pella Windows & Doors.
- If your new Velux skylights are not working properly, please contact our main office number and we will contact the Velux service team or you can go to the Velux website for service and warranty information.
- You may either give your final payment to one of our carpenters, or an invoice will be mailed out to you. If you would like to pay by credit card, please contact the main office number. All information is kept confidential.
