Our Process

Customer's Responsibilities

Check with your village building department to see if a permit is required for the remodeling work that will be completed.
If a permit is required, we will submit the necessary paperwork to the local building department, along with the necessary license, insurance, and bonds (if applicable). We ask the customer to please pick up and pay for the permit when it is ready.
Larger remodeling projects such as additions and/or major alterations will require architectural prints and plats of a survey to acquire the necessary permits. Although we do not cover the expense of having architectural prints drawn, we can recommend and meet with you and the architect to discuss your plans. With larger projects and renovations, we would take care of the permit process, although the customer would be responsible for the architectural fees, permit fees and survey fees (if applicable).
If your work requires a permit, please call the main office number when you have received the permit, and leave the permit number so we can add it to our file.
If your remodeling work requires you to order any fixtures or tile please order the items as soon as possible, as it may take several weeks for items to arrive. We can always recommend vendors for many items required for kitchen and bathroom remodeling.
Customers to remove and/or cover any furniture or important items in work areas.

You will receive a postcard in the mail within a couple weeks after your signed proposal and deposit have been received with an installation start date and delivery date for any items being delivered to your home (if applicable).
We will arrive at your home on the scheduled installation date at 7:30 a.m. or time arranged with customer.
We generally work from 7:30 a.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m., weather permitting on outdoor work. However, we will work later to finish the job if needed.
Drop cloths will be placed on floor in work area.
Work area will be swept and shop-vacuumed and construction debris will be removed. Please note: every effort will be made to keep work area clean and debris contained, but with most remodeling work, dust will form and spread outside of the work area. Please expect we cannot control dust and debris from spreading to other parts of the home.

Please complete the “job completion checklist” sheet when your job is completed. We value your comments.
If you have any “punch list” items, damage or items needing service (including Pella products) please enter those details on the job completion sheets. The completion sheets will be turned into the office, and any issues will be addressed.
If your Pella products require parts or service, someone from Pella will call you directly to set up an appointment to have the Pella service department come out to repair, replace or make any adjustments to your windows or doors. There is a 2 year warranty on parts and labor from Pella Windows and Doors.
Please plan on giving your final payment to one of our carpenters on the day your work is completed.
